Association Amici dei Bambini in Moldova will organize a charity concert for the graduates of boarding schools on Thursday, November 13. The event themed “For You, Children of the Light ”, is dedicated to the 19th anniversary of adoption of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Nadejda Rusu, the director of the Amici dei Bambini's Social Service Center told Info-Prim Neo that the proceeds will be used to create better living conditions for a group of 33 former residents of boarding schools. The money will cover the costs of tuition, food, clothing and school supplies . The representatives of Amici dei Bambini went to several Moldovan boarding schools and told the children about their intention to provide assistance for them, letting them decide who needs more support, Nadejda Rusu mentioned. The graduates of boarding gymnasiums are facing serious problems: lack of housing, difficulties in continuing studies and even food shortage. These were some of the conclusions of a meeting organized by Amici dei Bambini with children. “Doors are shut for us wherever we go. I am an orphan and since I've left the orphanage, I have no money to live and learn, and I'm not the only one in such a situation. Many of my colleagues are good students but there is nobody to support their intention to follow further studies”, confessed one of the participants in the meeting, Alexei Iordan, graduate from the Straseni Boarding School. The concert, which will be hosted by the National Philharmonic starting 6 PM, will bring together artists who agreed to perform for free: Ion Suruceanu, Geta Burlacu, Ana Barbu, Adrian Ursu, Anatol Marzenco, Doinita Gherman, Adrenalina, Andrei Stefanet, Aurel Chirtoaca, Anastasia Sorocanu, Alexandru Cibotaru and Lavinia Rusu. In turn, the children made origami at a workshop, in order to offer them as gifts and express their gratitude. Amici dei Bambini has a rich experience in assisting former residents of boarding schools, offering support in the process of acquiring necessary papers and enrollment to a educational institution.
