Charity act for Transnistrian war veterans took place in Casa Armatei of the capital
250 war veterans of the Transnistrian war, widows and mothers of the soldiers from the Nistrean war have received a financial aid of 300 lei, on the occasion of the 15 years of independence of the R. of Moldova. The invalids of I and II degree have received mobile phones from a sponsor. Also the disabled have received 12 TV sets from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the City Hall of Chisinau.
Valeriu Iovu, an invalid of I degree, came to Chisinau from Bardar. He states that his family is his sole support, as aid from any other source is scarce, the local mayoralty being too poor to help him.
The charity action has been organized by the “Sfintul Gh. Biruitorul” (Saint George the Victorious) Veteran Union, with support from the two force ministries and the City Hall of Chisinau. The chairman of the Union, Victor Alergus, failed to offer any information about the organization and its members, stating that such details are unimportant as long as the Transnistrian war veterans and victims were supported.
