Chargé d’affaires of Moldova’s Embassy in Moscow summoned by Foreign Affairs Ministry

The chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Moldova in Moscow was summoned to go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia on Tuesday afternoon. He was informed that the discussions will focus on the press reports about the Republic of Moldova’s intention to host F-16 aircraft for Ukraine. In this connection, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova asked the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs to collect information about Moldova from official sources, IPN reports.

“The MFA notes that the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, with regret, informs itself from fake news online. So, the Republic of Moldova does not and will not host weapons and military equipment, including aircraft destined for Ukraine. The Republic of Moldova is a neutral state and its institutions will continue to respect the principle of neutrality,” reads a press release.

At the same time, the MFA reminds that “the only country that illegally keeps troops and ammunition on the territory of the Republic of Moldova, without the consent of the authorities, is the Russian Federation.”
