President Maia Sandu made changes in the administration of the State Guard and Protection Service. The Service’s head Iaroslav Martin was dismissed, while Vasile Popa was named vice director of the institution, IPN reports.
In a program on TV8 channel, Maia Sandu said the decision to fire Iaroslav Martin was determined by a number of existing problems. The investigation continues and at the suitable moment she will provide more details.
As to the appointment of Vasile Popa, who ensured her personal protection during the last few years, as vice director of the State Guard and Protection Service, Maia Sandu said this person worked in the Government when she served as Prime Minister. “He has worked long in the system, is a professional and is competent and was near me as a volunteer during my election campaign,” explained the official.
