Chairman of PACE to deliver a speech to Moldovan MPs
Rene van der Linden, Chairman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will pay a visit to the Republic of Moldova on July 26-27. During his visit he will meet with high officials from Chisinau and will deliver a speech at the sitting of the Parliament on July 27.
An agreement on this issue was signed at the European Conference of Presidents of Parliament, which took place on May 31 in Tallinn and at which the speaker of the Parliament Marian Lupu participated.
Van der Linden will arrive in Chisinau on Wednesday, July 26 in the evening. On the same day he will meet with Marian Lupu, the speaker of the Parliament and with the leaders of Parliamentary factions.
In the second day, the chairman of PACE will deliver a speech from the central rostrum of the Parliament, after which he will meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Affairs, Andrei Stratan, the prime-minister, Vasile Tarlev and the president, Vladimir Voronin. In the second part of the day, van der Linden will meet with the representatives of the religious organizations, and in the evening he will answer to the questions of the journalists at a press conference.
This week the Parliament extended its work program and will assemble in 4 sitting – from Wednesday to Saturday inclusively. A series of issues that were intensely discussed the last time have been included on the agenda of the Parliament. Such issues as approving in the second reading the Code of Audiovisual, approving the 16th article of the Civil Code, approving the draft law on the administrative decentralization, the draft law on local public administrations are included in the agenda.
The sitting that will take place on Saturday, July 29 will end the spring sessions and the MPs will be free to go on vacation.
