Chairman of PACE advocates Ukraine to tie cooperation with Moldova
Ukraine should intensify cooperation with Russia and other neighbor states, particularly with Moldova. This statement belongs to Rene van der Linden, chairman of PACE, made on Saturday, July 29, in Odessa city.
The Ukrainian press reports that the European official has told Alexandr Moroz, chairman of Supreme Rada of Ukraine, that “a neighbor is more important than a remote friend”.
During this week, chairman of PACE has paid official visits to Romania, Moldova and Ukraine. During his stay at Chisinau, Mr. van der Linden delivered a speech to the Moldovan Parliament, assessing the activity of the Legislative and stating that the Moldovan democracy needs significant changes.
The European official also has brought to notice that the judicial reform should be promoted and implemented and stressed upon the necessity of a free and independent mass-media in the country. According to Mr. van der Linden, it is not enough to have laws adopted, their bringing to life is more important.
During his visit, chairman of PACE had a series of meetings with Moldovan authorities.
