CET Nord to buy natural gas on commodity exchanges

CET Nord will buy natural gas on commodity exchanges. The state-run company and BRM East Energy, a subsidiary of the Romanian Commodity Exchange, signed an agreement to this effect.

According to the Ministry of Energy, the collaboration between CET-Nord and BRM East Energy aims to develop operational models for the purchase of natural gas in a solid, transparent and non-discriminatory competitive market.

On this occasion, BRM East Energy executive director Ion Lupulescu emphasized the importance of interconnected trading and clearing systems in strengthening cooperation between companies.

CET-Nord acting director Marian Brînza expressed confidence that this collaboration opens new opportunities for the purchase of natural gas at competitive prices.

BRM East Energy was established in 2021, as a company registered in Moldova, with the Romanian Commodity Exchange as a shareholder - the oldest private operator of centralized commodity trading markets in Romania.

“By expanding its presence on the Moldovan market, BRM contributes to the consolidation of energy security and to the establishment of optimal prices for the final consumer, thus contributing to the prevention of possible crises on the energy market”, reads a press release from the Ministry of Energy.
