CES abrogates decision by which it suspended resignations of SCJ judges

The Commission for Exceptional Situations abrogated its decision of March 31 by which it suspended for a period of 30 days the resignations tendered by judges of the Supreme Court of Justice (SCJ). This way, the seven judges of the SCJ, who handed in their resignations, will stop work as judges of this court, IPN reports.

“Such a decision was taken because the authorities adjusted the normative framework with the mechanisms needed to solve the difficulties related to the provisional filling of the vacancies of judge at the Supreme Court and initiated the contest to fill the vacancies of SCJ judge by temporary transfer,” the authorities noted in a press release.

The Superior Council of Magistracy announced a public contest to temporarily fill the 12 vacant posts of judge of the Supreme Court of Justice by transfer, for an initial period of six months that can be later extended.
