The Central Securities Depository (CSD) will establish relations with similar foreign institutions. This will significantly facilitate feign investment in securities issued in Moldova. It is also planned to create a platform for private investors, which will enable, for example, any citizen of the country to purchase state securities, IPN reports. In a common interview for the press, National Bank governor Octavian Armașu said the results achieved by the CSD speak for themselves.
The CSD was created last April. In only four months of the founding, in July 2018, it managed to initiate operations with state securities and instruments of the National Bank of Moldova. In May 2019, the Depository launched operations with securities issued by joint stock companies. Connection was ensured with nonbank investment firms and the stock exchange so that all the operations on the stock exchange are settled through the CSD.
Octavian Armașu said the mechanisms for performing operations with financial instruments were optimized. The settlements and payments were automated. A high level of security and continuity was ensured. The banks and nonbank investment companies can perform operations online, from a distance. The investors can benefit from particular services at the CSD and at the offices of banks and nonbank investment firms.
“If we speak about challenges, one of the key objectives of the CSD is to stimulate the capital market and to extend the operations with securities. The benefits offered by the CSD should be felt by the participants in the market, joint stock companies and investors. Only this way the interest in investments in financial instruments will grow,” stated the governor.
Octavian Armașu noted the future projects of the CSD are as ambitious. The Depository will continue to improve the settlement mechanisms and the interaction with market participants so that any investment in financial instruments is performed swiftly, in conditions of maximum safety and at lower prices.
