Central park of Chisinau becomes Health Town for one day

In the context of the celebration of the World No Tobacco Day, the Chisinau Public Health Center on May 27 set up a Health Town in the Public Garden “Stephan the Great”, where everyone is expected, IPN reports.

A narcologist will explain the visitors the consequences of cigarette smoking, will tell them about the diseases caused by smoking and will give pieces of advice to those who are determined to give up.

A number of posters with information about the consequences of smoking will be placed to form a labyrinth and the participants in the event will be asked to go through it. For children, there were prepared all kinds of contests and recreational activities.

“We want to warn once again about the necessity of respecting the anti-tobacco law of May 31, 2016 and about the consequences of smoking,” said the representative of the press service of the Chisinau Public Health Center Daniela Turtureanu.

Over 48% of the men and slightly over 8% of the women smoke in Moldova. Among children aged between 13 and 15, the smokers represent more than 10%. Statistics show that about 6,000 Moldovans die annually from diseases caused by smoking each year. More than 60% of them die early, at a working age.
