Central Electoral Commission initiates procedure of validating mandates of two deputies

The Central Electoral Commission has initiated the procedure of validating the mandates of two deputies who entered Parliament on the alternate member lists of the Democratic Party and the bloc ACUM, IPN reports.

Ruxanda Glavan (number 17 on the national list of the Democratic Party) served as minister in three governments: Streleț, Gaburici and Filip.

Serghei Cataranciuc (number 22 on ACUM’s list) has been active in university education for over 30 years and is a winner of the National Award in the field of Science and Technology.

The decision of the Central Electoral Commission will be transmitted to the Constitutional Court for the validation of the deputy mandates. (The procedure of appointing new members to the Constitutional Court is ongoing, following the resignation of the constitutional judges at the end of June.)

The two parliamentary seats became vacant after PDM’s Otilia Drăguțanu resigned and ACUM’s Liliana Nicolaescu-Onofrei preferred the post of Minister of Education.
