Central electoral authority elects administration
The Central Election Commission (CEC) on February 15 will constitute its executive bodies in a festive meeting set to start at 2pm. The agenda of the meeting includes the election of the president, vice president and secretary of the CEC, Info-Prim Neo reports.
Immediately after the administration is elected, the Commission will hold an ordinary meeting to consider commencing the procedure for validating the MP seats of the substitute candidates.
The new composition of the Central Election Commission was confirmed by a Parliament decision of February 11.
The CEC consists of nine members, eight of whom are named by the parliamentary groups, while one by the head of state. The PLDM fielded Iurie Ciocan, Vasile Gafton and Stefan Creanga, while the PCRM - Vadim Motsarski, Igor Vremea, and Alexandru Simionov. Stefan Uratu was proposed by the PL, while Svetlana Gutu by the PDM. Andrei Volentir was designated to work on the Commission by presidential decree.
Former CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan told earlier the press that he may apply for the post of president of the central electoral authority.
