Central Election Commission to carry out post-election analysis

The Central Election Commission (CEC) for the first time will conduct a post-election analysis of the 2009 parliamentary elections this month. There will be examined the April 5 legislative elections and the July 29 early elections, Info-Prim Neo reports. In a communique, the CEC says that the analysis will include three independent, successive events aimed at formulating a series of proposals and recommendations for organizing and holding elections in Moldova and an average-term action plan to improve the work of the electoral bodies. First of all, the CEC members and the functionaries of the Commission's apparatus will discuss the most important electoral aspects. Afterward, they will carry out an internal analysis at the electoral bodies and the institutions that participate in the organization of the elections. Then, the results of the internal analysis will be presented for public debates at the end of October. “The CEC aims to obtain the electoral players' consensus about the legislative and procedural aspects that should be improved,” the communique says. The analysis will be carried our with support from UNDP Moldova, the representative office of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems in Chisinau and the Council of Europe.
