Central Election Commission receives another 15.4 million lei for organizing local elections

The Government Wednesday allocated 15.4 million lei to the Central Election Commission (CEC) for organizing the activity of the electoral bureaus of the polling stations and holding the June 3 local elections. The money was allotted on the basis of the estimate presented by the CEC. Under the Government Decision, the Ministry of Finance will allocate an additional 15.443 million lei from the state budget, by fixing the financial resources for covering the expenses in case that the state budget for 2007 is modified. During the Government’s meeting, Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev said that he will ask the Ministry of Finance and the Audit Office to verify how the money allocated earlier to the CEC have been spent. According to the Ministry of Finance, these sums amount to 18 million lei.
