Central Election Commission has two new members

Parliament on October 28 confirmed Lilian Enciu and Vasile Postolache, who were fielded by the group of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists, as members of the Central Election Commission that now has eight members. One more post on the Commission remains vacant, IPN reports.

The CEC members are appointed by Parliament by a majority of votes of MP. Of the nine members, one is proposed by the President, while eight are suggested by the parliamentary groups, proportionally to the number of held seats.

On September 16, Parliament appointed five members of the Central Election Commission. They were proposed by the Party of Action and Solidarity - Alexandru Berlinschii, Angelica Caraman, Sergiu Gurduza, Ludmila Lupașco and Alexandru Musteața. Also then, Pavel Postica, the CEC member named by the President, was sworn in. The candidate of Șor Party was short of votes and the group is to provide another candidate. The candidates of the Bloc of Communists and Socialists weren’t considered as the group left the assembly hall in protest at another issue.
