Central Depository holds state and NBM certificates worth 41.1 billion lei

As of the end of 2022, the Central Depository held 351.6 million state securities and National Bank of Moldova certificates worth a total of 41.1 billion lei.

This breaks down as follows: treasury bills – 19.8 billion lei, or 48.1%; state bonds – 12.1 billion lei, or 29.3%; NBM certificates – 6.6 billion lei, or 16.2%; state bonds with a fixed interest rate – 2.2 billion lei, or 5.4%; and state bonds with a floating interest rate – 444.1 million lei, or 1.1%.

At the same time, at the end of last year, 913.4 million corporate securities were registered in the Central Depository system, of which 910.9 million were ordinary shares, 2.3 million preferred shares and 72,500 municipal bonds. The total value of corporate securities was 14.6 billion lei, of which 99.5% represented ordinary shares.

The Central Depository system has been operational since July 31, 2018. At the end of 2022, 20 participants were registered in the system. This includes the National Bank of Moldova, 11 banks licensed by the NBM, the Deposit Guarantee Fund, and also 7 non-banking investment companies. At the same time, 198 issuers were registered: the National Bank, the Ministry of Finance, 3 local public authorities and 193 joint-stock companies.
