Central Bank puts new bills into circulation

The National Bank of Moldova will put new bills with the nominal value of 5 lei, 10 lei, 50 lei, 100 lei and 200 lei into circulation. The new banknotes will have the same characteristics, size, color and safety elements as the old ones. The new elements include the signature of the National Bank governor Dorin Dragutanu and the printing year 2013, IPN reports.

According to a communiqué from the central bank, the new bills will be used as a means of payment in parallel with the old ones with the same nominal value.

The old banknotes will be withdrawn from circulation gradually, depending on their wear and tear degree.
