The National Bank of Moldova has issued a new set of coins with nominal face values of 1, 2, 5 and 10 lei. Although mainly intended for collectors, they can be used as legal tender at their face value.
The set of metallic coins comes in an enclosed folder and was minted in 5,000 copies.
The set will be marketed through licensed commercial banks. Banks are free to fix their own prices for the set, which however must not be greater than the maximum of 135 lei fixed by the National Bank plus 3 percent.
