A Center of Philological Studies in the name of Eugen Coșeriu will work as part of the Faculty of Languages of the State University of Moldova (USM). The project is financed by the Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova of the Government of Romania and envisions the repair of the hall that will house the center, the purchase of the necessary furniture and equipment, IPN reports.

According to USM, the goal of the Center of Philological Studies will be to unify and develop the scientific research segment. This will serve as a discussion platform for philologists from the country and abroad, which will develop the scientific inheritance left by Eugen Coșeriu, while the most important theses and ideas of the scientist will be disseminated by conferences, through the media and by published volumes.

The Department for Relations with the Republic of Moldova allocated over 680,000 Moldovan lei for this project.
