Center-left extraparliamentary parties want to take part in elections together
The center-left extraparliamentary parties may create an electoral bloc for the early legislative elections. It is not yet known how many and what parties will form part of this bloc, Info-Prim Neo reports.
In a news conference on Tuesday, Sergiu Corobceanu, the secretary general of the Social Democratic Party (PSD), confirmed that talks are being carried out, but did not give details.
Earlier, Vladimir Turcan, the leader of the United Moldova Party that has three representatives in Parliament, formulated the same proposal. Contacted by Info-Prim Neo, the MP said he does not yet have an answer. “The achievement of this objective depends on the political will of every party that will take part in the talks,” he said.
Turcan also said that the new parties that appeared in Moldova have chances of entering the future legislative body. “The results of the constitutional referendum showed that a large part of the voters are disappointed with the governing parties so that the new parties can attract supporters on their side,” he stated.
Under the amended Election Code, the threshold for an electoral bloc formed of two parties is 7%, while for a block consisting of three and more parties - 9%.
