A center for studying English for students and teachers was opened at the National Library in Chișinău on September 14. Different events will be staged at the center, such as professional development training seminars for teachers and club discussions in English for students. The center was opened based on an agreement signed by the British Council Ukraine, the public association META and the National Library, IPN reports.
META executive director Larisa Guzun said the goal pursued by opening the center is to enrich knowledge of English. The events that will be organized for students will involve native speakers, while the training seminars for teachers will involve specialists from Moldova and abroad. The topics for conversation will be varied.
National Library director Elena Pintilei said the opening of the center is a model of extending international partnerships. “The National Library offers communication areas and together we will organize events and activities and will develop teachers’ skills, while the students will study English. I think this will contribute to achieving the goal of forming competent and intelligent young people,” she stated.
In connection with the opening of the center, the UK donated bools to the value of €5,000. The center’s working program is available at meta-moldova.md.
