A center for making national costumes will be opened in Pelinia village of Drochia district. The project is implemented with the support of the Government of Switzerland, which offered a grant of US$ 25,000. The mayor’s office will contribute US$ 3,000, while the locals are urged to collect US$ 2,500, IPN reports.
The center will include a workshop for making national costumes. There will be staged gatherings and contests with the aim of passing on the art of creating national costumes and handicrafts to the young generation. Within the project, the local Home of Culture will be outfitted with heating, water supply and sewerage systems.
It is estimated that the center will start work in September. Pelinia is one of the 15 communities that benefitted from grants for local economic development provided by the Government of Switzerland.
