Celebration of unique traditions and tastes at Municipal Festival of Ethnic Communities

Representatives of ethnic groups presented their culture and traditions on Saturday at the 23rd edition of the Municipal Festival of Ethnic Communities entitled “Unity through Diversity” – the celebration of multiculturalism and interethnic tolerance. Representatives of the Chisinau City Hall laid flowers at the monument of Ruler Stephen the Great and Holy, danced and tasted traditional food of the ethnic groups participating in the festival, IPN reports.

At the opening of the event held in the central park of Chisinau, mayor Ion Ceban said he is happy that the city of Chisinau and also the entire country is a “Big House” for all ethnic groups. “We go together to baptizing ceremonies, weddings, we get married, have children and raise them in peace and according to those traditions, listening to beautiful music, having different cuisines, dancing different dances together and I am glad that we are together as a whole – the people of the Republic of Moldova, regardless of what ethnicity or nationality we are,” stated the mayor.

The representatives of the ethnic groups presented their folk costumes and traditional dances. They also prepared culinary delights. The people can visit the 15 ethnic courtyards set up in central Chisinau to familiarize themselves with the particularities and ethnocultural values of the ethnic groups in Moldova and participate in master classes staged by the organizers.
