Ceiling on revenues from annual sales for patentees will be trebled

The upper limit on revenues earned yearly by patent holders from sales, regardless of the area of activity, will be increased from 100,000 to 300,000 lei. A bill to this effect was passed by Parliament in the second reading on July 5. The economic entities that will exceed the annual turnover of 300,000 lei will be unable to work based on patent further and will have to register the business as private company.

Contacted by IPN, the head of the Parliament’s commission on economy, budget and finance Veacesalv Ionita said this law allows the patentees to work on an area of up to 30 square meters. Until now, the allowed area was up to 12 square meters. The patent holders will no longer be banned from selling in kiosks and stalls. The bill was put forward by the Democratic Party and the Liberal Democratic Party.

Veaceslav Ionita also said that another bill that is to be registered will impose ceilings on the local taxes, which are now set by the local authorities, as many of them are exaggerated.
