CEFTA offers Moldova an European perspective – Prime Minister of Romania
It is important for Romania that Moldova was accepted as a part of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and in the European cooperation process. In this way, Moldova was also given a European perspective, - the Prime Minister of Romania, Calin Popescu Tariceanu declared at the Meeting of the Council of Europe in Brussels, held on June 15-16.
Tariceanu expressed his hope that the efforts of Romania to include Moldova in CEFTA are made according to the desire of Chisinau.
According to the Government from Bucharest, the Council of Europe welcomed the initiative of Romania to transform CEFTA into an economic structure for the development of the West Balkans countries and referred to the European cooperation process, where Romania made efforts to be included.
The Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) was signed by Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia. These countries aim to have the possibility to integrate in this way in the West-European structures and adhere to the Western systems in the political, economical, legal, security fields. The main goal is strengthening democracy and market economy.
