CEC will make vote recount results public next days
The Central Election Commission (CEC) will publish the results of the vote recount during the next days. Renata Lapti, vice president of the CEC, has told Info-Prim Neo that she does not know about extraordinary violations that could influence the outcome of the April 5 elections.
According to her, small mistakes were identified yesterday when the votes were recounted in all the poling places of the county, but it is too early to make conclusions. “We cannot make assessments until we see all the reports from the electoral offices,” Renata Lapti said.
Referring to the Opposition parties’ refusal to participate in the recount, Renata Lapti said that only the AMN had the right to delegate representatives as it is the only party that was present in the former legislature. “Anyway, a quorum was present in practically all the electoral offices and the offices are working. When there were not enough members, the local authorities delegated persons that were in reserve,” Renata Lapti said.
At the request of the Communist Party, the Constitutional Court ordered that the votes cast in the April 5 elections be recounted. The Liberal Party, the Liberal Democratic Party and the Moldova Noastra Alliance said they would not take part in the recount. According to them, the vote rigging can be proved only by verifying the electoral registers. On April 15, they said that after examining a small part of the lists, they identified irregularities that could lead to the invalidation of the April 5 legislative elections.
