CEC to notify MoJ, prosecutors over Revival Party’s unreported expenses

The Revival Party might face a temporary ban after the Central Electoral Commission found that it failed to report expenses “in large amounts”. The CEC said it would submit formal notifications to the Ministry of Justice and the Anticorruption Center to present its findings.

Pavel Postica, CEC vice president and also member of its audit group, said that the party filed financial reports for January 1-April 30 with “incomplete and superficial information which failed to accurately reflect the costs of various actions and activities carried out in the country and abroad”.

Revival was also found to withhold information about the events it organized. “The party failed to present documents that confirm the expenses for organizing and conducting political activities. The party tried to mislead the audit group by submitting untruthful documents”, added Pavel Postica.

“Representatives of this party blatantly defied legal norms, a fact that has negative effects on the electorate, undermines fair political competition and seriously damages political pluralism”, declared Postica.

Revival representatives were not present at the CEC meeting.

In mid-August, a district court slapped a 3-month ban on the Chance Party, also affiliated with the fugitive politician Ilan Shor.
