The Central Election Commission (CEC) will have a meeting on June 29, starting at 2pm, to take cognizance of the June 19 judgement passed by the Chisinau City Court that became revocable by the June 25 ruling made by the Supreme Court of Justice by which the invalidation of the early mayoral elections held in Chisinau municipality on May 20 (first round) and June 3 (runoffs) was upheld, IPN reports.
In a press release, the CEC said the meeting will be convened on Friday for the reason that a part of the Commission’s members are on business trips, while others are on leave.
In the evening of June 25, the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the Appeals Court’s decision to not invalidate the results of the early mayoral elections held recently in Chisinau municipality. Supporters of mayor-elect Andrei Nastase are mounting protests.
