CEC to decide where Corjova residents will vote

The Central Election Commission (CEC) convened at 9am to make a decision allowing the voters from Corjova village, whose polling place was blocked by the Transnistrian authorities, to make their choice in Ustia and Cocieri villages of Dubasari district on additional lists, Info-Prim Neo reports. According to the CEC, the polling place has not been opened, while the access roads o Corjova are patrolled by the Transnistrian militia. On September 1, a group of Transnistrian militiamen disconnected the school in Corjova from the power supply, hindering the festivity held to mark the start of the new school year. Several days after the incident, Oleg Beleakov, the co-chairman of the Unified Control Commission on behalf of Transnistria, told the Transnistrian reporters the electricity was cut off owing to works to prepare for the September 2 events celebrating 20 years of the foundation of the breakaway republic. He recommended the Moldovan constitutional authorities not to intervene so as not to escalate the situation.
