CEC to announce new elections in Corjova

The Central Election Commission will announce new elections in Corjova village, Dubasari raion. Under the Electoral Code, they should be announced 60 days before the date of the polls, Renata Lapti, deputy chair of CEC told a news conference. Local elections in Corjova could not be carried out on June 3 and on June 17, because the Transnistrian militia blocked the polling section and did not allow people to vote. On June 17, the separatist forces destroyed the polling station and CEC has subsequently ordered to close it down in order to avoid tensioning the situation. The jurisdiction over Corjova village is disputed by the central authorities of Moldova and the regional separatist authorities, but this is the first time that a polling station is closed by force.
