The Central Election Commission (CEC) has set the ceiling on the financial resources that ca be transferred to the fund of the contenders running in the November 30 parliamentary elections. CEC secretary Andrei Volentir has told IPN that the sum was doubled compared with the previous parliamentary elections, of 2010.

The ceiling for political parties, political and social organizations and electoral blocs is 55 million lei, as against 21 million lei in 2010. For independent candidates, the ceiling is 2 million lei, as in 2010.

The Commission also agreed the size of the interest-free loan provided to election runners. For independent candidates, this sum is 5,000 lei, while for political parties, political and social organizations and electoral blocs is 25,000 lei. Andrei Volentir said these loans have been until now non-operational because the procedure for taking out loans set by the Ministry of Finance is too difficult and bureaucratic.
