The Central Election Commission on Friday set a cap on the amount that can be transferred to the accounts of the groups which collect signatures required for the formal registration of presidential candidates, IPN reports.
The ceiling is set by taking a coefficient multiplied by the maximum number of signatures required. Under the Election Code, for presidential candidates this number is 25,000 signatures (from at least half of the second-level administrative units).
For this election the coefficient is 23.05 lei. Thus, the groups collecting signatures will be allowed to spend no more than 576,250 lei.
