The Central Election Commission (CEC) set a cap on the financial resources that can be transferred to the electoral contender’s account “Electoral Fund” for the snap local elections of May 29, 2022. Depending on the electoral constituency, the cap oscillates between 8,876 and 49,403 lei, IPN reports.
The Commission also agreed the size of the interest-free loan provided to election contestants. For each party, sociopolitical organization and electoral bloc, the cap is 25,000 lei, while for each independent candidate it is 5,000 lei.
On May 29, snap local elections will take place in ten localities. Eight villages are to elect their mayor, namely: Glinjeni village of Fălești district; Ghetlova village of Orhei district; Horodiște village of Rezina district; Zastânca village of Soroca district; Moara de Piatră village of Drochia district, and Tătărești village of Strășeni district; Păulești village of Călărași district; Alexăndrești commune and Zăicani village of Râșcani district, and Hagimus village of Căușeni district. The new makeup of the local councils of Lozova village of Strășeni district and of Bobeica village of Hâncești district will be elected the same day.
