CEC satisfied with voter turnout
The secretary of the Central Election Commission Iurie Ciocan said that the voter turnout this year is higher than in 2005. “The turnout at 13.00 was about 27%, as against only 20% in 2005 at the same hour,” he said.
Owing to the time difference, the poling places in Washington and New York, the United States, remain closed.
The CEC secretary also said that they were concerned about the developments in Corjova. The members of the electoral office in the village remained blocked inside Mihai Eminescu High School, where the polling place was set up.
“Unpleasant incidents happened also in Sanatauca village of Floresti district, where an additional polling station was opened for Transnistrians. The residents of Transnistria were not allowed to cross the Nistru River,” Ciocan said. Therefore, the CEC asked the Ministry of Reintegration to intervene.
