CEC reminds who of election contenders must leave posts. ELECTIONS 2015

The Central Election Commission (CEC) warns the candidates for the post of local councilor or of mayor to vacate their seats if the Election Code provides this in their case, IPN reports.

Since the applicants are registered as election runners, these must stop work if, in virtue of the post held, they do not have the right to be members of parties or of other sociopolitical organizations. This refers to judges and employees of the Ministry of the Interior, the National Army, the Security and Intelligence Service, the Prosecutor’s Office, the National Anticorruption Center, the National Integrity Commission, etc.

The persons holding responsible posts such as the deputy prime ministers, ministers and deputy ministers, ex officio members of the Government, managers of central public authorities, heads and deputy heads of raions, mayors and deputy mayors, heads and deputy heads of city districts must also leave their posts.

The election contenders must present documents showing that they vacated their seats for the period of the election campaign to the electoral body that registered them as runners within three days of their registration.

May 14 is the last day when documents for being registered as candidates running for the post of local councilor or of mayor in the June 14 local general elections can be submitted.
