CEC registers last five referendum campaign participants
The Central Election Commission (CEC) on August 5 registered another five political organizations as participants in the September 5 constitutional referendum. These are: the United Moldova Party, the Social Democratic Party, Moldova’s Patriots Party, the Socialist Party of Moldova, and the Centrist Union of Moldova. The deadline for the submission applications expired today, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The United Moldova Party and the Centrist Union will campaign in favor of the referendum, while the Social Democratic Party and Moldova’s Patriots will campaign against. The Socialist Party did not state its position on the referendum in the application to the CEC. Twenty-five sociopolitical organizations will take part in the campaign.
In the August 5 meeting, the Commission warned the sociopolitical movement “Ravnopravie”, the Republican Party, the Party of Socialists “Patria Rodina”, and the Republican People’s Party to present financial reports within two weeks, as stipulated in the regulations concerning the financing of election campaigns and political parties.
The CEC also authorized monitors on behalf of civil society and the international organizations working in Moldova to observe the September 5 referendum.
