The Central Election Commission (CEC) collected information about the appearance of pictures of a ballot on which the stamp ‘voted’ was put against the name of the Party of Socialists’ candidate for President Igor Dodon, IPN reports.
In a press release, the CEC says the ballot is allegedly intended for persons who will vote at the polling place established in the Russian town Kursk. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration informed the Commission that this is a false ballot given that the electoral documents, including the ballots, haven’t been yet opened by members of the given electoral office. This will be done in the course of October 29.
CEC president Alina Russu described these actions as an attempt to intimidate the election process in Moldova.
The CEC also said that it requested the competent bodies, including the Security and Intelligence Service, to elucidate this case. The Commission will provide more details later.
