In connection with the so-called elections to the Supreme Soviet of the self-proclaimed Transnistrian republic, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the Republic of Moldova, as the only supreme authority empowered to organize elections on Moldova’s territory, calls on the international election monitoring and human rights protection organizations and on the homologated electoral management institutions not to send observers to oversee these ‘elections’ and not to recognize their results, IPN reports.
The appeal launched by the CEC says that the sending of observers to the separatist region, in the opinion of the Central Election Commission, could be interpreted as de facto recognition of the ‘right’ of the self-proclaimed republic’s administration to violate the civil and electoral rights of the Moldovan people living in this region.
The so-called elections to the Supreme Soviet and the district soviets of the Transnistrian region were scheduled for November 29.
