The Central Election Commission (CEC) issued official invitations to the interparliamentary assemblies and international governmental organizations to which Moldova is a party, asking these to delegate representatives to supervise the October 30 parliamentary elections. Invitations were also sent to specialized international organizations, electoral management institutions, embassies and consulates working in Moldova, IPN reports.
In a press release, the CEC says that election monitoring is an instrument designed to ensure the organization and holding of fair elections, in accordance with the international standards in the field, to increase the level of transparency and confidence in the electoral process in Moldova.
The Commission issued invitations to the European Parliament, the Council of Europe, the European Commission for Democracy through Law, the Venice Commission, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, etc.
