CEC decision on PNL's electoral commercial overturned
The Chisinau Court of Appeals Tuesday annulled the decision by the Central Election Commission (CEC) to withdraw the commercial of the National Liberal Party (PNL), Info-Prim Neo reports.
The CEC obliged the PNL to withdraw its electoral commercial that promoted the idea of Moldova's union with Romania and banned all the mass media organizations from broadcasting it, following a challenge filed by the Communists Party (PCRM).
The CEC's representative at the hearing Ruslan Nastase refused to comment on the Chisinau Court of Appeals' decision.
Sergiu Sarbu, the PCRM's jurist and representative at the CEC, said the Court's decision was illegal and groundless. “The Court probably based its decision on certain procedural norms and this is not for the first time,” he said.
The jurist added the PCRM will appeal the decision of the Chisinau Court of Appeals to the Supreme Court of Justice even if the CEC decides not to challenge it.
Representatives of the PNL said earlier the party has never pleaded against Moldova's sovereignty, while the idea of Moldova's union with Romania is developed in its program.
