CEC decides size of subsidies for parties for first two months of 2019

The Central Election Commission (CEC) set the size of subsidies that will be provided from the state budget in the first two months of 2019 to parties according to the results achieved in the parliamentary elections of November 30, 2014 and for six months according to the results achieved in the local general elections of June 14, 2015. The monthly subsidy for each valid vote given to parties in the parliamentary elections of November 30, 2014 is 0.88 lei, while for each valid vote cast in the local general elections of June 14, 2015 is 0.37 lei, IPN reports.

The size of subsidies for the other ten months of the year will be decided according to the results achieved in the parliamentary elections of February 24, 2019 and for another six months according to the score obtained in the local general elections of June 2019.

The CEC was allocated 40 million lei from the state budget for financing parties. The subsidies allocated from the state budget will be monthly transferred to the bank accounts opened by parties for the purpose.

Under the CEC decision, 19 parties will get subsidies for two months in accordance with the results achieved in the parliamentary elections of November 30, 2014. Almost 2.5 million lei was allocated for the purpose. Also, 22 parties will receive subsidies for six months in accordance with the score obtained in the local general elections of June 14, 2015, with almost 7.3 million lei being allocated for the purpose.
