The Central Election Commission (CEC) set the size of the interest-free loan provided to contenders that will compete in the new parliamentary elections of March 15, 2020, in single-member constituency No. 38 of Hîncești municipality. Thus, each sociopolitical organization and electoral bloc could borrow up to 50,000 lei, while each independent candidate – up to 10,000 lei, IPN reports.

According to CEC secretary Adrian Lebedinschi, the Ministry of Finance will draft and approve the regulations concerning the provision of interest-free loans to election contestants for carrying out their campaign prior to the new parliamentary elections of March 15, 2020.

He noted that after last year’s elections, such loans, for the parliamentary elections, were raised by two election runners, while for the local elections by six contenders. One contender, political party, took out loans for both of the elections, while the other candidates who borrowed money were independents. The raised loans came to 160,000 lei. About 5,000 lei has been restored so far, by one election runner.

New parliamentary elections will be held in single-member constituency No. 38 of Hîncești municipality after Democratic MP Alexandru Botnari renounced the seat of MP won in this constituency in favor of the post of mayor of Hâncești municipality, where he won the November 3 runoffs.
