CEC continues to analyze last two election campaigns

Members of the Central Election Commission (CEC) together with members of district electoral councils and of electoral offices of polling places as well as representatives of the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Information Technology discussed the problems encountered in the April 5 and July 29 parliamentary elections at a three-day seminar held in Vadul lui Voda town. CEC vice president Renata Lapti has told Info-Prim Neo that the seminar organized as part of the Postelectoral Analysis Project launched at the start of October centered on the necessity of modifying the electoral legislation in order to make the work of electoral officials more efficient. There was considered the possibility of amending the procedure for drawing up the electoral registers and modifying the powers of the CEC and electoral councils and the penalties and methods of examining complaints. The seminar will be followed by an expanded-format conference themed “Management of Electoral Processes in Moldova. Developments and Prospects” during November 2-3. It will bring together representatives of election observation missions, the CECs from other countries, the OSCE and of the Council of Europe.
