The Central Election Commission reiterated that campaigning on the election day is allowed, not yet inside polling places and at the entrance to these, IPN reports.
In a press release, the CEC said that under Article 52 of the Contravention Code, the continuation of electoral agitation or campaigning for a particular option in the referendum at the entrance or inside the polling place is punished with a fine of 750 to 1,500 lei in the case of private individuals and of 1,750 to 2,500 lei in the case of persons holding responsible posts or election contestants.
The CEC calls on the competitors to carry out their activities aimed at determining the electors to vote in the elections in accordance with the legal provisions and with the norms defined by the Code of Conduct for covering the election campaign.
