CEC bans distribution of calendars with ASEM rector

The Central Election Commission (CEC) banned the Liberal Democratic Party of Moldova from distributing calendars with the picture of the rector of the Academy of Economic Sciences of Moldova (ASEM) Grigore Belostecinic, who is a PLDM candidate for MP. The CEC argued the calendars do not contain the date when they were printed and the number of copies issued, Info-Prim Neo reports. In the November 9 meeting, the Commission examined three applications filed by the representative of the Communists Party Vadim Motsarski, whereby the party demands penalizing the PLDM for using administrative resources. In the first case, the Communists say a Government letter with the Premier’s signature is being distributed to persons who receive compensations for heat. The CEC rejected the application as groundless. Another rejected application refers to the placement of advertisements at the State University of Medicine and Pharmaceutics “Nicolae Testemitanu”, which informed the students about a meeting with the Minister of Health. In this case, the CEC argued the PCRM lodged the application six days after identifying the violation, not within three days as required. In the same meeting, the CEC abrogated the decision of the Anenii Noi District Electoral Council, which says that the PLDM violated Article 38, paragraph 7 of the Election Code concerning the offering of presents, money and other goods to voters. The PLDM distributed body sprays. The Commission decided the body sprays can be considered electoral advertising objects like the pens, notebooks and calendars.
