The Central Election Commission (CEC) took cognizance of the Parliament’s decision by which two seats of MP in the Democratic group were declared vacant following the leaving of Constantin Botnari and Iurie Cazacu. In its March 15 meeting, the CEC voted to give the seats to the next two candidates from the Democratic Party’s list - Valentina Rotaru and Serghei Chiseliov, IPN reports.

The Commission will ask the Constitutional Court to validate the seats of the two candidates on behalf of the Democratic Party.

In the same meeting, the CEC took notice of the vacancy that became available on the Chisinau Municipal Council after Liberal councilor Lucia Caciuc resigned. The vacancy will be filled by the next candidate from the Liberal Party’s list – Lilian Chicu.
