Former secretary of state at the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research Radu Rebeja is likely to enter Parliament as a substitute candidate on the lists of the Democratic Party. The Central Election Commission examined the resignation tendered by former Democratic MP Constantin Botnari and decided to assign the seat to the next substitute candidate on the list, IPN reports.

The Constitutional Court is to validate the seat.

Last week, Constantin Botnari announced his decision to vacate the seat of MP, invoking personal reasons. Democratic MP Alexandru Botnari, who was elected mayor of Hâncești municipality, also left his seat. Alexandru Botnari was elected in a single-member constituency and new parliamentary elections are to be held there to choose a new MP.
