The Central Election Commission requested the Chisinau City Hall to consider the possibility of extending the working hours of registrars of the district head’s offices of the capital city so as to enable the applicants to submit declarations on the change of the domicile for being able to vote on October 30, IPN reports.
In a press release, the CEC says the request was made following complaints from people eligible to vote, who said that owing to the standard working hours of the given registrars, up to 5pm, the working voters cannot submit the given declarations.
Under the electoral legislation, the persons eligible to vote who change the domicile after the last elections must inform the local public authorities about the new place of stay 30 days before the election day so as to be written on the voter rolls at the polling place located in the area of the new domicile.
In the case of the October 30 presidential elections, the deadline for submissions is September 29.
