CEC announces end of electoral period
The Central Election Commission (CEC) held the last public meeting of the electoral period on Friday, April 24, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“Today, the Commission declared that the electoral period in Moldova is over,” the CEC secretary Iurie Ciocan told the reporters.
At the meeting, the CEC ordered the publication of the materials concerning the validation of the April 5 elections that came from the Constitutional Court and of the list of elected MPs and substitute candidates.
Also, the Commission dissolved the electoral councils set up for the parliamentary elections. The CEC members that do not wok permanently on the Commission will return to their permanent jobs from April 28 and will no more be paid for their work on the CEC.
From this moment, the CEC will return to its normal work program and will meet at ordinary meetings once in two weeks.
A festive ceremony will be held on Saturday to hand over the permits to the 101 MPs elected in the Parliament of Moldova of the 17th legislature.
Under the Election Code, the electoral period starts when the Parliament announces the election day and ends with the validation of the MPs seats by the Constitutional Court.
