The Central Election Commission (CEC) registered the initiative group for initiating a referendum on dismissing Mayor General of Chisinau Dorin Chirtoaca. In the July 15 meeting, the CEC approved the lists for collecting signatures for organizing the referendum and the permits of the members of the initiative group, IPN reports.

The Party of Socialists, which is the author of the initiative to organize a referendum on dismissing Dorin Chirtoaca, has 30 days to collect signatures. Under the legislation, the signatures of at least 10% of the Chisinau voters are needed for the purpose, which is about 64,000 signatures.

Igor Dodon told the journalists that they want Dorin Chirtoaca to be dismissed because the situation in the municipality of Chisinau is disastrous.
